

As far away as Corpus Christi was from places like Vicksburg and Northern Virginia, this very pivotal moment in American history even reached our city. Part of Company F, 1st Texas Cavalry was from Corpus Christi, Ware's Tigers or Ware's Partisan Rangers. The city also has some connections to the 10th US Regular Infantry. The 8th Texas Infantry defended the city during the battle of Corpus Christi. Edmund J. Davis, who raised Federal regiments of Texans and later became the reconstruction governor, at one time lived in Corpus Christi. Below are some links:
