The H. M. King High School 60's Decade Centennial Reunion honoring classes of 1960 - 1969 held July 2-4, 2004 in Kingsville, Texas is over and was very successful.

Gary Chestnut and Mary T Garcia made a special presentation marking the 35th year since the Class of 1969 graduated. The events for this reunion included: a hospitality get-to-gether, two dinner dances, a breakfast, a one mile run, a 5K run, kayaking on Baffin Bay, a skeet shoot, a lovely Memorial Prayer Service, a style show w/ lunch & Laura (Case) Pollard modeled representing our class, a golf tournament w/ Bar B Q, a lunch at King's Inn, a tour of the King Ranch & Museum with camphouse lunch, a tour of the John Conner Museum & a special tour through Dolores Price's Kairos Gallery & a Champagne Brunch.

The Memorial Prayer Service listed from our class the following: Arriaga, Juan Calzada, Ema Garza, Gustavo Judge, Milton Buster Mooney, Steve Tellez, Danny Please notify me of deceased members of our class.

There was something for everyone to do and everything was so very nice & well attended. Hats' off to the Reunion Committee: Nancy (Corbin) Deviney, Sally Foster, Marilyn (Birchett) Moerbe, Rose Mary (Brooks) Sheldon, & Cyndi (Chesser) Walker, for planning such a wonderful weekend of activities.

The profits from the silent auction and left over from the weekend activities benefited the Kleberg County Heritiage Foundation to help furnish the newly restored Kingsvile Railroad Depot & grossed over $7,000...very thoughtful for them to think to do this!!!

Many stayed to observe the big July 4th Centennial Parade with the 60's Decade having a processional of classic cars from our era. Our representative in the parade was Bobbie (Beyer) Ryan, our Homecoming Queen, rode in Bernie (Red) Klassen's 1966 red convertible Mustang. Bernie is Mary Ann Klassen's dad and they used be neighbors to Bobbie & her family. Also, I noticed Carl Korges riding with Spider Nix in his '57 Chevy...he looked the part with his close-cut hairdo!!

Many from our class sang in the choir with Mrs. Millicent Wiley for the dedication ceremony & ribbon cutting of the Kingsville Railroad Depot. Overall we were well represented and had a grand old time celebrating the first 100 years of Kingsville, Texas born on the 4th of July 1904.

We are planning on having our Class of 1969 40th Reunion in 2009 so plan on attending. We will need your new email address or your new home address to let you know our plans.

Please make contact with others from our class that you are in contact with so we can find the majority and invite them. Many of our addresses are invalid today so we need your help to make contact with old classmates.
